What happened
RICOH announced development of the GR IVx on August 27. Its newly designed 26.1mm F2.8 lens gives a 40mm-equivalent field of view on the APS-C sensor, placing it between a classic 35mm documentary view and a 50mm normal lens.
The company lists approximately 25.74 effective megapixels, five-axis sensor-shift stabilization and ISO 100–204800. Those figures are official specifications, not an independent image-quality result.
RICOH says launch is planned for winter 2026 or later. It has not yet supplied a final price, exact market date or Romanian availability in the reviewed announcement.
Why it matters
A 40mm-equivalent lens changes the GR's visual behaviour more than a small specification bump would. It narrows the scene enough to isolate subjects, yet remains wider and more environmental than a 50mm lens. The tradeoff is simple: photographers who depend on the GR IV's broad context will have less room, while street, portrait and everyday users may gain a more deliberate frame.
What we're watching
We are waiting for the final lens design, startup speed, autofocus behaviour, battery life, RAW latitude, production firmware, price and a specific shipping date. MANAZYR has not handled or tested the camera.
