What happened
Meta introduced Muse Image and previewed Muse Video on July 7. The company says Muse Image is available in the Meta AI app and on meta.ai, in Instagram Stories in the United States and in WhatsApp in limited countries, with Facebook support planned. Availability is therefore not equivalent across countries or products.
Muse Image can invoke search and coding tools, refine its own drafts and compose from multiple image references. Meta says images created in its Meta AI app and on meta.ai carry Content Seal, an invisible provenance signal designed to survive cropping, compression, resizing and screenshots, and it previews a detection tool. Muse Video is described as coming later; Meta identifies audio-video synchronisation and physically accurate fast motion as current gaps.
Why it matters
The notable product move is the combination of generation, external tools and provenance in one consumer workflow. But internal benchmark rankings and watermark-resilience claims remain vendor evidence. Content Seal should not be treated as interchangeable with every other authenticity standard or as proof that an unmarked image is human-made.
What we're watching
We are watching Romanian and EU availability, terms for commercial work and reference images, independent tests of Content Seal, interoperability with broader provenance tooling, and a real Muse Video release. ‘Coming soon’ is not a publication date.
