Pixel 11 gives the base model a 48 MP main camera and 5x telephoto reach

Google announced Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL on August 12. The base Pixel 11 receives a new 48-megapixel main sensor that Google says is 56% more light-sensitive than Pixel 10, plus a 5x telephoto camera supporting up to 30x Super Zoom. The percentage and resulting image-quality claims come from Google, not from an independent comparison.

On Pixel 11 Pro and Pro XL, Google lists an upgraded 48-megapixel telephoto sensor with 30% greater light sensitivity, 5x Portrait Mode and computational Pro Zoom up to 120x. Instant Night Sight is advertised as up to 4.5 times faster on the two Pro models. The US announcement opened preorders at starting prices of $899, $1,099 and $1,299 respectively, with store availability stated for August 20. A Romanian price, local stock and release date were not confirmed in the official Romanian store page reviewed for this edition.

The important change is the broader capture range on the base phone, not the 120x headline attached to the Pro line. A true 5x camera can be useful for portraits, details and compressed perspective, while extreme computational zoom is a reconstructed result rather than 120x optical reach. Creators should judge texture, edge handling, colour continuity and motion—not just the maximum number in the interface.

We will verify Romanian availability and pricing, actual telephoto detail at 5x, 30x and 120x, colour matching between cameras, Night Sight behaviour with moving subjects, video stabilisation and thermal limits. We will keep Google’s sensitivity and speed percentages labelled as vendor claims until independently reproduced.
