Canon’s second-quarter camera revenue rises 12.9% as full-frame mix strengthens

What we know

Canon reported second-quarter camera net sales of ¥175.4 billion, up 12.9% year on year. The wider Imaging group reached ¥306.8 billion in sales, up 17.7%, and ¥69.8 billion in operating profit, up 78.7%. Canon says compact-camera sales rose significantly after production expansion, while full-frame models led by the EOS R6 Mark III lifted interchangeable-lens revenue and average selling price.

For 2026, Canon now projects ¥698.0 billion in camera revenue, 11.6% above 2025 and ¥23.2 billion above its previous projection. It expects to sell 2.80 million interchangeable-lens cameras, down 3% year on year, and estimates the overall interchangeable-lens market at 6.45 million units after lowering its outlook because of the Middle East situation. The company says the EOS R6 V, launched in June for video creators, will support second-half full-frame sales.

MANAZYR perspective

Revenue and unit direction are not contradictory: a company can sell fewer interchangeable-lens bodies while earning more from a higher-priced mix. The quarter therefore says more about compact supply and full-frame positioning than about every Canon user buying more equipment.

What we’re watching

We are watching compact availability, EOS R6 V and R6 Mark III sell-through, the 2.80-million unit target and whether higher memory and transport costs reach retail prices. Company projections are not guarantees of stock, demand or Romanian pricing.
