What we know

Autodesk launched 3D Editor + Canvas in Flow Studio on August 4, 2026. The company says the workflow is included across all five tiers — Free, Lite, Standard, Pro and Enterprise. Model access, credits and usage limits can still vary by plan.

3D Editor supports character and asset placement, blocking, performance direction, timing control and camera keyframing in a 3D space. Canvas is the node-based 2D component where users generate and refine the final look with image and video models. Together they can bring characters, animation, camera tracking, motion-capture data, live-action elements and generated environments into one project. Autodesk lists Veo, Seedance, Kling, Gemini, Omni, Nano Banana and Marble among the available models. Deeper Maya and other DCC integrations, broader asset import, AI-assisted scene construction and agent-driven directing are described as potential future capabilities, not features delivered today.

MANAZYR perspective

The meaningful change is the separation of direction from rendering. Camera, movement, pace and the spatial relationship between characters can be decided before a model interprets the frame’s final appearance. For filmmakers, that is more useful than repeatedly regenerating a prompt, but it does not guarantee continuity, fidelity or identical control across different models.

What we’re watching

We will test shot-to-shot consistency, camera and animation fidelity after rendering, export into traditional pipelines, real credit consumption and each model’s rules for uploaded material and outputs. We will continue to separate live features from Autodesk’s roadmap.
